September 20, 2010 - The Golf Swing Speed Challenge was developed to help golfers increase their swing speed, which is, in fact, the underlying problem to short drives. Hitting longer drives has little to do with swing style or how much one practices, but with the speed of one’s swing, a fact Alex Gairdner, the creator of the program, discovered when attempting to increase the length of his own drives.
Alex Gairdner, using his knowledge of the human body, created a program that allowed him to increase the speed of his swing by 20.2 mph in 56 days, thereby increasing the length of his drive by 44.3 yards. Gairdner explains that “for every 1 mph of club head speed you improve you’ll gain about 2.2 yards of distance.”
Golfers all over the world have been using the Gold Speed Swing Challenge with great success, which is why it has become such a popular program. Rather than working for years on their swing style or practicing hours every day, golfers using Gairdner’s program now impress their friends and acquaintances on the green as the length of their drives has increased exponentially with no help from funky gadgets.
“"Completing the golf swing speed challenge has affected the way I play golf. I've been much more aggressive off the tee with the driver. Instead of trying to guide a 105 mph swing, I've been hitting 115s (and occasionally 125s). Just because it's super fun to crush a ball out there and it's reasonably straight,” says Julian Bennett, a happy golfer from Saudi Arabia.
Alex Gairdner holds a degree in sports science, exercise physiology and physiotherapy, which have allowed him to create a program that helps golfers increase their strength and flexibility with a single goal in mind, hitting longer drives. After first developing the Golf Swing Speed Challenge, Gairdner decided to run some tests on a gourp of golfers from all over the world. The results were astounding. Every person who completed the challenge was hitting much longer drives as their swing speed had increased by leaps and bounds.
