Since the global recession started practically everyone has tightened their belts and cut back on some of lives little luxuries, including luxury bedding. Even consumers who can afford to spend money are not doing so in the same way they did prior to the recession.

They are emphasising the fact that because their products are made from top quality materials and sewn by professional seamstresses they last far longer than standard bedding. In fact this kind of bedding is so well made it can be used for decades and still look and feel good.

Many firms are selling online as well as in the High St, which is cutting their overheads allowing them to reduce the cost of their products without affecting the quality. They are also cutting costs in other areas. By streamlining their operation is a good example of this.

The luxury bedding industry is also dealing with the high cost of cotton in an innovative way, by diversifying into other kinds of luxury bedding. Consumers are being encouraged to look at linen, velvet and wool throws as an alternative to luxury quilt covers. Many firms now allow their customers to only buy the individual bedding items they want rather than having to buy the whole set all at once.
